With no new Vampire Diaries this week, it could have been an angst-free Thursday night. A night with no angst?! What's a girl to do?
To satiate my thirst for the tears of tortured television characters, I turned back to one of season two's best episodes and Tyler Lockwood's most compelling storyline: his first shift into a werewolf.

Way back in season one, Tyler was a full-out jackass. He wan't a sexy jackass. He wasn't a secretly damaged jackass. He was just a regular old, garden variety jackass. And he sort of tried to rape Vicki in the pilot...

When Tyler finally got all supernatural, jackass boy was suddenly completely terrified. Vulnerability in a typically tough-as-nails character is always a treat. And it's even better when there's a girl around to give him hugs and comfort.

Tyler's been tolerable ever since. That is until Klaus showed up and Tyler got all sired. Recently, Caroline rightly pointed out that Tyler's gone back his douche-baggery. It's a little disappointing, but at the same time, if losing Caroline for a while brings back some of his tortured-ness, it's worth it.
Plus - in the mid-season finale, Damon kicked the crap out of him. It's always a good time watching Damon kick the crap out of people.
