The Lying Game Finale: Who ARE These Characters?

ARG.

I guess it's the tendency of finales, but last night's The Lying Game was slow. Nothing happened
until the last five minutes. Much of the episode was horrible set-up for a Thayer/Emma moment which makes NO sense and Kristin being so pathetic I want to climb through the screen and smack her with Rosie's Riveter. Come on, woman!

You'll notice my screen-caps have zero to do with what I'm talking about. That's because every Ethan/Emma scene was identical. He's sorry. She won't forgive him yet. He's sorry. She won't forgive him yet. Blah blah blah. Them fighting really doesn't do it for me.

The problem is, Emma keeps going on and on about this 'thing' Ethan has for Sutton when there is no thing! He called her a lying bitch. And she is! It makes no sense that she's ever competition for Emma who is just as hot and 99% less nuts. No. One. Likes. Sutton. And yet she keeps managing to matter.

Mystery-wise, I thought it was perfectly perfect they found a murder weapon in Alex's golf bag. I'm guessing at this point, he didn't actually kill anyone. And Sutton working with Annie or Rebecca or whatever her name is is interesting. I'm curious what they're up to.

But character consistency-wise, this show is a mess. The finale ended with Ethan seeing Thayer and Emma hug. WTF show? There's no Emma/Thayer chemistry. It doesn't make sense. Thayer sucks.  Him and Emma have spent about five minutes alone together. (And it was just a hug... how much can Ethan really read into it?) It's just stupid stupidness because all shows think they need triangles. Although in this case it's more of a square. Or something. Bah!

It doesn't matter. The show's gone for a while and I have lots of pretty pictures of Blair Redford to look at. I guess when a show cares so little about what makes sense for the characters and so much about twisting and turning for the sake of twisting and turning, pretty faces are the best we can do. Which is fine. It's better than unpretty faces.
