The X-Files Saturday: Scully's Abduction

It was a series defining story arc brought on by off-set circumstances. Gillian Anderson had to be written out for an episode because she was pregnant. What's the easiest way to get rid of her? Yes. She was abducted by aliens.

Lucky for us, it all started with Mulder going for a little swim.

I have no idea what this scene was about other than Mulder wearing red speedos. This was almost a post of just this scene. But the abduction was more important.

It starts with Duane Barry, an alien abductee who has taken a few hostages at a travel agency. Mulder has to go in and negotiate. The X-Files are still officially closed, so Scully gets involved via phone and research apparently only she can do. Mulder spends a lot of the episode as a hostage. Then Scully comes in and tells Kyrcek to back the eff off.

The conspiracy comes in at the end--metal tracking devices were found in Duane. Scully has them at home because sure, why wouldn't she? While leaving a message on Mulder's machine, Duane Barry makes a thump. He's outside Scully's window. She screams and calls for help. Then we're to be continued.

When we come back, Mulder is sad, upset, angry, and brooding. The entire time.

He looks this way because he secretly loves her, and does not want her to be gone, especially by way of alien abduction.

After an episode about modern day vampires where Mulder tries to mask his pain with shaving and whores*, Scully comes back, quite a bit worse for the wear.

Mulder spent the episode trying to figure out "who did this to her" and he tossed a few rooms and threatened good old CSM. His anger convinced Skinner to reopen the X-Files because that's what they feared most. That must have been the push Scully's spirit needed, and she magically woke up from her coma. Then Mulder made hot sweet love to her held her hand and it was lovely.
