Gone But Not Forgotten: Angel in Buffy Episode "The Wish"

Alternate reality episodes don't really count in my book. When a show wastes a week demonstrating how things might have been or could be or almost were or might one day be, it's basically filler. And in this episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Cordelia isn't even blessed with the memory of what happened. So she doesn't learn how vital Buffy is. The only thing it really accomplishes is introducing Anya to the show.

However. If we're going to spend time in an alternate universe, at least we get to see Angel be tortured.

Locked in a cage, burned with cigarettes, cowering from things that go bump in the night. I can get behind it. At least for the purposes of David Boreanaz watching.

And look at those scars. Scars are underrepresented here on The Angst Report. I'll have to fix that...

By its very nature, the episode does nothing to forward Angel, Buffy or their relationship. But I can't let such a good torture moment pass  un-commented upon. The next Angel post will be covering my second favorite Angel episode of Buffy. Let it snow, ya'll!!
